About the Parsons

5 generations of knowlege

Neil’s passion for hurdle making began from a young age when he was taught the unique craft by his father.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Neil’s deep-rooted desire to deliver meticulous craftsmanship and an unquestionable passion for the countryside, country life and all things outdoors is what separates Parsons & Sons from the rest.

A legacy of restoration and conservation

Neil Parsons prides himself on protecting wildlife whilst keeping traditional crafts alive.

Parsons & Sons are also highly skilled in an array of additional country crafts, including woodland management and conservation.

In addition to the bespoke woodcraft of wattle hazel fencing and hedge laying they also carry out river-bank restoration.

High quality local hazel

With Neil’s connections he only sources 8 year-old hazel from local woodlands. Mature hazel is far superior to the imported competition who often use 3 year-old branches. Not only is mature stronger and longer-lasting, but the environmental impact is significantly less.

Neil knows sustainability best, as the Parsons have been crafting for generations with low carbon regenerative hazel. There’s no mass forestry or destructive practices, and the woodland is a walk away from his workshop in Alderbury, Wiltshire.
